First I checked out the link supplied by perrie-lipper and then I thought about the question posed by this thread. Then I started wondering just what being a writer in residence in Shetland is meant to mean.

So having thought about it I decided that from my perspective we have an eternal student who has studied drama and writing and is now studying Japanese and who has managed to write two books in between all that study.

Now that may well be comendable but I wonder just what relevance she has to people in Shetland who might get inspired by a writer in residence. I guess she can tell school bairns and students that it is possible to continue study having finished one course at university but I would have thought a writer in residence should be here to inspire people to start writing and I seriously doubt from reading her biography that she is the right person to do that.
