Leather Jacket Cleaner/conditioner/preserver?

Anybody have any recommendations whats best to use for cleaning leather jackets and keeping them supple? I seem to remember it was was discussed on another thread a long time ago, but I can't find it.

I've a couple of jackets that I should do, and I'm looking for something with an emphasis on conditioning/preserving the leather, as neither has much need of cleaning, but as both are heavy biker jackets of some age, keeping the leather in good order and the jackets supple is paramount.

Something odourless, or at least very minimal odour would be much preferred. I can't remember what I used the last time I did a jacket, but I had to leave it hanging in the fresh air for weeks, as the scent of the cleaner wouldn't leave it, and I couldn't stand how it smelled.

Thanks in advance for any help.

It's actually designed for use on leather seats in cars but have seen it used on bikers leathers and it did a fair job, might be worth a shot. It does smell but it smells nice

There is a place near Aberdeen sells it but I don't think they are any cheaper.

Cheers for yun. I'll check them out a bit further, and give it a try.

I think this time I'll be smart and just do a peerie bit first, and see what occurs.

Last time I went gung ho and slopped it all over the whole jacket in one go, it seemed fine for smell at the time, but the longer it soaked in, the worse the smell got. I'm blaming the cleaner I used, but on second thoughts it may well have been the jacket I was doing that was equally at fault. It was a cheap jacket in the first place, and a veteran of probably a few too many escapades, so god knows what all had soaked in to it over time that may well have reacted with the cleaner.

It ended up smelling like a cross between cheap and nasty air freshener and something akin to the disinfectant smell typical of Doctor's surgeries and hospitals, for several weeks. Don't wanna be going there again.

Sorry GR, hadn't logged in for ages so never saw your question on leather.

At the OIM TT in 2000 there were stalls selling this really good stuff, Renapur Leather Balsam. http://www.renapur.com/SITE/home_1.asp

The guy did my boots with it 3 times in all {kept seeing him at different events} Feet stayed dry all fortnight! I was very impressed so bought a tub.

It was great on the leather jacket & breeks - made them really soft & supple, and waterproof.

It's guaranteed for 5 years even if you leave the lid off! Got beeswax in it.

{Went & gave the jacket & Renapur away as I canna drive a bike now, nor, sadly, even go on the back any more... But, been there, done that, bought the T-shirt, wore it out, ripped it up to clean the bike wi :)

Ah, if only Shetlink had existed before I tried to revitalise my old bike jacket with Nivea and Neutrogena hand creams.

Yes truly.

Well I didn't know did I?

Smell lovely though, , in the cupboard, where it will forever remain. :(

Njugle- you could try Renapurs Leather Cleaner - it might just work?

Ken what it's like to have an unwearable Leather hanging in the cupboard... mine stank of 'Charlie", 'Tweed' and that other horrid cheap perfume that was all the rage at that time, trying to disguise the smell of puke that just wouldn't go.

{I was trying not to vomit on Mum's sitting room carpet after the Carnival Dance many years ago, had my hand over my mouth to try & stem the flow, and it went up my sleeve :(

Just minded- 'Tramp'!
