pianist52
Hi, wondering if anyone has any information on solar installations in Shetland? Had been thinking of the hot water only type, but now think maybe the electricity creating one -photovoltaic, would be better. Are the payment systems in place? As fas as I know there are not grants available at present. Is there a Council Dept that helps with advice? Thanks (***Mod Edit - Moved to Consumer Advice & Resources***)
Queenie79
Give the Energy Saving Trust a ring, they have a Renewables advisor up here. There number is 0800 512
MuckleJoannie
There are solar panels attached to the Shetland College. I presume someine there might be able to help you. The SIC has an Energy Unit that deals with energy saving measures. http://www.shetland.gov.uk/conservation/ShetlandIslandsCouncil-EnergyUnit.asp
paulb
there should be grants to meet some of the costs. but i think its aroud 50%. you of course get payments if your connected to the grid. good luck.
pianist52
Thanks for all your answers. I've written to EST and we'll see what they come up with. I'll also try the College.I've discovered the Government is coming up with a new initiative June 2011 - so best not to act too hastily! Do hate that lovely sun going to waste!
