lerwick
Not sure but i think Sinclair Goodlad from Burra was on that boat and it was broken up at Shearers dock.

Ghostrider
There's 15 or so pics here of a 'Crystal River' LK 290, taken between the 30's and 50's that would appear to be a Zulu. Can't promise its her, but it would seem quite probable that it might be. http://photos.shetland-museum.org.uk/index.php?a=wordsearch&s=gallery&w=Crystal+River+LK+290&go=Go
wullie m.
Brilliant Ghostrider! I have a 2 ft model of her, it has the raked back stern of a Zulu, can't quite make that out in the pic's, but it looks like the same boat to me. Built 1901 for a George Rosie. I've heard it was bad luck to change a boats name, was that the case in Shetland?
Ghostrider
^^ Definitely a widely held superstition to change a boat's name would only bring bad luck, especially among fishermen in Shetland of that era, possibly less so with other vessel owners though. Many even in the present day would be very reluctant to re-name a boat, old seafaring superstitions tend to die hard.
wullie m.
I think pigs & ministers were bad news Ghostrider. Must get a buddy to take a pic' of this model and send it in, I'm a bit of a dinosaur myself. Judging by your photo's, the raked stern is under the water when the boat's underway.
