Caeser
Hi My name's Lynnie, and I'm from New Zealand. My grandparents on my dad's side were both from the Mainland. I visited last year and it was quite an education! I edit a newsletter here for the Shetland Society, and stumbled upon your website while I was searching for interesting things to include in it. Anyway, I registered, and here I am..... lynnie
breeksy
Well, if you are looking for interesting things, and the newsletter is going out soon, you could do worse than feature Sakchai Makao, and include a link to the epetition.... just a though Hi there I'm a newbie here too, but I reckon you'll be welcome.... Whereabouts in Shetland are your grandparents from - you might well find you are speaking to relations... (although don't ask me, I'm useless at that whole family tree thing)
Muppet
Of course your welcome here, but not as an 'outsider'!!! As an insider. I'm sure you'll find this an excellent online community. As breeksy pointed out, there is one overwhelming issue going on here at the moment, and if you could spread word of the campaign, it would be greatly appreciated in many quarters. You could become the furthest away person to sign the online petition (unashamed plug). Heres a link to the thread http://www.shetlink.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=
Sam
i think shetland is like anywhare else when welcoming new people, if you come in, join in well, take part in life, you will get on well, however if you take over, get a big job with lots of money, start bossing people about or even worse start slagging the place off then your welcome could be very short lived. but i think you could say this about any area in the uk
