kittybee
hiya, we have been very badly let down (were promised a camper van to borrow...but let down at last minute) We now need to find cheap accomodation, for 2 adults + 3 kids +2 dogs.Inevitably, not many folk will allow dogs in accomodation (whether house or caravan) - hence the need for camping instead.Does anyone have advice on a good place for us to pitch our tent? we would prefer somewhere near water, and somewhere quiet. maybe near a shop, but not important.... any ideas? thanks in advance
The Cheesemaker
You could try Skeld Campsite.. which isn't that busy and inexpensive, close to water etc You could call Josephine on 01595 860287 for more details

Fjool
Skeld is pretty remote... But you could try Vatsetter in Yell. There's a good spot there that we stayed last year. The land owner is very friendly and encourages visitors to use the site; even provided us with some wood for a campfire.
owdwife
Theres an excellent camping site at Burravoe marina (Yell) with very good facilities and lovely walks. 10 minutes from the ferry(and shop) although there is a litle community shop in Burravoe which is open an hour a day for basics

Girzie
You can hire caravans and campervans which would be infin itely more comfortable than camping - although maybe crowded for the number. Can you not leave the dogs with someone or put them in Kennels? Then you could use the camping bods - Whalsay, Waas, Eshaness, Yell, Fetlar etc. Or Gardiesfauld Hostel in Uyeasound which is excellent. shetlandpeat
I always took my Lakeland Terrier every where. Personally think it is wrong to get pets and then dump them off to kennels, they are part of the family.Hope you enjoy your break, Lunna is a nice place, so is everywhere else really.
