rsba
I'm a purple belt in BJJ. I should be arriving in Lerwick at the end of August and I'm planning to be here for 6 months. I gather from this forum that there are no BJJ clubs in the Shetlands. If anyone wants to do a bit of BJJ - even if only on some carpet in a garage, I'd be very much up for it. Romeo
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazilian_Jiu-Jitsu by any chance? I think you'll need a bit more than a garage space with carpet down unless you want injuries
rsba
BJJ is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu AKA Gracie Jiu Jitsu. A garage with carpet is fine in fact - I've done it before years ago in my own garage and thankfully I never got any injuries. A lot of the top BJJ practitioners and teachers used to teach out of their garages including Rickson and Rorion Gracie before they became household names in the martial arts world. Mats in a dojo would obviously be a whole lot better but we grappling addicts will roll anywhere to get our fix! If there are any judoka or freestyle wrestlers interested in adding a different dimension to their ground game, we could probably learn a lot from each other.
