"The day the music died...." was when Mark and Lad were replaced. I haven't been able to listen to R1 since.

Moyles tries to hard and is too dismissive of his peers, talks about beers too much and tries to make on he's not really a 'celebrity' whilst burning with "i've really made it"

Like an exact antithesis of Peter Kay.

"The Day the Music Died" for me was when John Peel died. I didn't particularly like Mark and Lard, but I would give anything to have them back on the air now.

When you can't stand radio 1 any more it means you're old and have to switch to radio 2. Give in to it. I love radio 2 :)

Nooooooooo!!!!!

I stopped liking radio 1 when I was about 19. I liked the Evening Session and that was about it, although Mark & Lard were good when I had to listen to them at work. . Radio 2 is ok on Sundays. Jonathan Ross is suprisingly good, but it's mainly just a graveyard for R1 Djs!

Those in the know (well, me!) listen to BBC Radio 6, although you'll need a digi-radio. It plays "good, proper" music, whatever that means...

I like it though.

It favours Beatles over Boyzone. More Sex Pistols, less Robbie Williams. Just generally crap free.

Perhaps the way things are going at the moment eveyone will know where Shetland is soon.

And by the way I was directly involved with the Steve Lamacq ? Idlewild gig and the Chris Moyles thing was nothing much more than a bit of 'friendly', inter-DJ twaddle.

Of course Mark Radcliffe himself is going to be here next week to do his show from Shetland too - 22nd June. Then he and his band The Family Mahone (check out the bands biog on thier website if you want a laugh) are playing the North Star on Friday the 23rd - along with the Hazey Janes and Roddly Woomble (from Idlewild of course) and again the following night in the marquee on Victoria Pier.

One not to miss - should be good crack.

I think we should be able to have a bit more pride in Shetland and a higher level of self-confidence. I can't see why people get worried about people calling it 'The Shetlands' or whether the place is in the right spot on the weather map. We punch well above our weight in the global context.

Well said Marvin - entirely agree!!!
