I would also like to ask any family based businesses and services if they would like an add for add deal. This would mean I would put an add of your website with a link in exchange for the same on yours. Also if anyone knows of any good information that they would like to see on my site. Thankyou

National Childbirth Trust - www.nct.org.uk and www.sheliakitzinger.com who has her own site and well worth look she heavily involved in One world birth too,you can just type her name in and it should go to her homepage.

Good luck Jo with your Doula services I hope its very sucessful as they are every where else in UK.

www.homebirth.org.uk

Excellent evidenced based reference site - take a good look around .read the research , and then decide if this something you might like as a choice you can always book homebirth and change your mind later or book homebirth late in pregnancy its always your choice whether your classed high or low risk .Don't forget some ladies are told they are high risk check this site out and remeber AIMS and then see if your still high risk it maybe just the Trust guidelines saying you are than your indvidual obstretic history/present pregnancy always work checking. The forum has a section for "I can't have a homebirth because"check it out.

Hi ,

As the government now plans to make a c-section a mother right should she choose ,the government should be listening that every mother has a right to chose a homebirth costing alot less and proven to be as safe if not safer than birthing in a hopsital with a normal healthy pregnancy.

http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/uphold-the-absolute-right-for-women-to-give-birth-at-home/

the above petition has just started and is being backed by AIMS-

ASSOCIATION IMPROVEMENTS IN MATERNITY SERVICES.

Please help support the choice to give birth at home should a mother make an informed choice for now and years to come.

Hi Mucklejo,

Not sure if this will be of any interest to you ,but if you look on the AIMS site there is ually a list of dates of conferences and workshops that midwives NHS and Independent ,doulas ,parents etc can attend around the country. Many are very interesting and up to date evidence wise as well the usual common hynobirthing etc there are some for VBACS, hands off metehod for breech delieveries for emegency or planned both for hospital or home usally Mary Cronk and she excellent  homewaterbirths and hospital ,breastfeeding etc etc.If the list is not there I know where I can get the info  .I would have loved to been able to attend some this year but unfortunately it was not possible for me ,I might try back end of next year  .The actual cost of the workshops are not not always that expensive its more the travelling costs and staying somewhere.I don't know for next year how many workshops will be more north than south of the mainland bust easily enough to find out.

I'm sure Doula uk also run some along with the NCT etc.

Not sure if you have copy of Doula Dvd on One world Birth ?which looks excellent and they are also hoping to bring out a condensed film of their work with the experts in maternity demonstainting their findings of this years filming trying to promote natural physiolgical labour and birth and importance trying to create change away from uneceesaay intervention ,c-sections and promote a choice of how and where to birth whether at home or hospital and advantage and overwhelming evidence of a natural calm less risk of intervention of labouring at home and importance of quiet similar enviroment in hospital which is sadly not reflected with bright lights ,bells ringing, interuptions ,clinical sterile feel .Many modern units have now addressed these issues some excellent units on the mainland look almost and as relaxing as birthing at home just by paying attention to more as what promotes a calm relaxed feeling more pleasing on the eye that does have a positive calming effect on the labouring woman with dimmer lights and away from noise nas soft colour decor etc. They hoping it will be shown in cinemas across uk.

The hyde birthing centre in the New Forest is lovely example of an old building brought up to date with lovely enviroment to labour and birth just by what they done to their birth rooms to promote feeling of being relaxed and welcoming.

Not sure if there is any other support groups /worshops closer to home in Aberdeen or not?

Hi, for futher information and evidence based references of risks etc for VBACS contact AIMS who have number of publications and booklets and give you further advice ,options and guidence and links ,they will always contact you back on the phone and will give all the necessary support and help that you require to birth how you want with all options and risk covered without being biased either way ,they have national helpline number and email see contact page.It always worth looking at the research and do alot reading around your subject so YOU can make a proper unpressured ,informed choice ,its ALWYAS YOUR CHOICE, no one can force you to anything you don't want or feel comftable with they may advise but that it is, no matter how high up they are.It better to be informed of ALL your choices than just being told there is only one choice very ofeten this not the case but just what you are told so you conform to their guidelines which are not always clear cut and easy as some Trusts make out .Some women are classed as high risk are not when you researched your own case carefully etc sometimes yes you are genuinely high risk and therfore you must reserach carefully to make right choice for you and your baby you must feel comftable and sometimes its helps talking to outside agencies too just get a well rounded view /perspective before making a decision.

There is much more evidenced based research on many other sites too from good quality studies, not just on VBACS but breech, twin births, placenta previa etc again AIMS see previous link on page 1 for them will point you in right direction and also various conditions usally have their own support groups too, just research around your subject carefully.

One World Birth will also be bringing these topics ,conditions up with necessary up date evidence using midwifery experts at the fore change the attitudes of many units and their policies and guidelines that does not suit necessaily every woman. Discussions will take place as the site expands to help demonstrate women do have CHOICE and control of their own labours given the right help ,support and infomation without bullying and pressure and scare mongering that does go on when woman doesn't always agree with the guidelines when she made a perfectly acceptable informed choice by looking carefully at all her options and reserach and not necessaily just by that particular hospital /consultant health care provider she may well wish also take 2nd opinion or use other agencies to help make a balanced sound rounded decision for whats right for herself ,baby and family and put with her current advice from her own hospital/unit /Dr,midwife and come to conclusion of her decison when gathered enough information rather just relying on that partcular hospital guidelines and consultant/midwife etc.

If you have come to carefully informed decision looking at all your options and well reserched and taken advice of your hospital and medical staff and if necessary further advice /guidence ,do not be afraid to challenge your Trust guidelines or health care providers usually women who are well informed and remain determined and strong and don't allow scaremongering ,bullying tatics, usually labour and give birth very well confident it was the right choice for them rather than making a decsion to agree to policies that might work for the local hospital but not necessaily best interest of that particular woman.Key is ask questions, look all possible options and gather as much quality research and if in doubt take further advice until your happy and confident with your informed choice. You only get one chance to labour birth with each baby and that memory and experience stays with you a lifetime which you have to live with .Once you birthed that baby the hospital would have forgotten you on to the next woman. It is obvious and essential you want to be confident you try and get best possible birth experience you can.
