Another forum I'm on has a 'Thanks' button on the end of a post, used much the same way as a like button!

This is quite a simple mod to implement with phpBB. The mod has been around for a while and will, I expect, be fairly stable. It is also easy to edit the strings to change from "Thanks" to "Like" if desired:

Implementing it also provides functionality to have league tables for users' use of the button, as well as how often their posts are thanked/liked. That would perhaps be no bad thing.

Good point, particularly in sections of the forum where people are asking for advice. Nothing worse than asking for advice and having people giving you information which isn't from an informed opinion or just commenting for the sake of it.

Could just be a thumbs up/down system - anybody with too many -ve votes could be thrown to the lions.

  • 4 weeks later...

Have the mods ever given consideration to a yellow card system, if a poster ignores the forum rules consistently they get a yellow card and if they continue to do so after that a red card and a ban, Don't know if it's possible to code such a thing on Shetlink. On another forum I use they have a sin bin where a poster gets stuck in there for a week where they can't post, if they continue to misbehave when they get out of the bin they get a ban. May be a way to root out serial offenders.
