You obviously can't be trusted on Your own when I'm away looking after my two mutts ... so I'll guess I'll have to search on eBay for day-glo collars so I can see them in the dark, buy a new torch and then undertake the perilous journey to Your couch accompanied by said mutts! Para Handy
i agree - folk have nothing more to moan about than a couple of minor power cuts. Folk in other parts of the country have no houses after the recent riots, let alone power! Folk should get things in perspective Well sibby1970 Lets hope you are not haveing your heart bypass when the lights go of for a day.
unlinkedstudent
Oh dear, big flash from sky above at approximately 6.15am which apparently, according to SIBC (Or so Ghostrider tells me) caused no damage. Moi telephones lekky board who sez firstly fault at Sumburgh substation and then they trying to trace fault and hope to have power back on by 11. Request generator. Several calls IN from lekky board sez generator en route to me (and others also down here in sarf end) by 12.30. Oh dear, generator arrives and latest mobile call from lekky board saying now that it twas transformer struck by said big flash in the sky and new transformer being delivered, aiming to have power back on by 5pm latest. Moi now has lekky courtesy of generator supplied by lekky board (thanks guys xxx). [Edit]Ohhh....daammm....it was supposed to be a "surprise". [/Edit] Ahem. One wishes to remind Ghostrider that I have a generator and hence the ability to cook grub this afternoon, not to mention popping over with Your cuppa tea when I've got this work backlog completed whereas You will be without said lekky supply again ... Honestly peeps, these men ... ... NOT to mention the fact that I'm sure the local neighbourhood doesn't wish to lose said power supply again if coffee maker trips everything within a (err how far are we from that stupid substation again?) paulb
how come the south end seems so feeble to the weather. the westside seems quite robust or is it that we are more sheltered. or is it the amount of coffee making going on down there. Ghostrider
^^ Its the "wisdom" of the Hydro siting the damn substation on top of a hill....lightning is a lazy SOB, it takes the shortest route to ground everytime, and fries their gubbins in the process. The coffee making probably exacerbates the problem many-fold too though. Especially the strength of that stuff.....

Except that the Hydro guy reckoned the substation on a hill had nowt to do with it and that they didn't have power in North Roe either ... ... One would appreciate it my darling if said coffee could be ready and freshly brewed when I deliver Your evening meal (Although it is probably wise to replace said fuse first)
