PJ of Hildisvik
If the barometric pressure gets any lower the glass on my barometer will crack
MuckleJoannie
961 on my weather ststion just now. According to Dave Wheeler at the centre of the Low it is about 959hPa. As long as pressure is low it means light winds. As the glass rises so will wind speeds. We're in the eye of the storm at the moment. Heimdal
Just been reading the Måløy newspaper and they are predicting that this wind might be as bad as the 1992 New Year Day storm/hurricane. For newer/younger readers that was when the Annsbrae caravans ended up at the foot of Lovers Loan and two birdwatchers at Hermaness lost their lives when the hut they were sheltering in blew over the cliffs. It's just a prediction but the worst of the wind is predicted to pass north of Shetland and hit Norway to the north of Stad,(Auld Rasmie and Oddrun .. look oot) If you can read Norwegian, the item is here ... http://www.fjt.no/nyheter/article409801.ece
