gafynandrew
This is what I hate about up helly aa....The whole bloody island has to stop what it's doing just for the sake of a boat burning.
piggywiggie
no different to what happens at christmas and new year! so whats the problem?its not just a boat burning anyway. its a tradition! gets the island together.worth not having a couple of shops open for a day. besides if we were back in the day everything would have been shut on a wednesday anyhoo! mikeyboy
Most of the shops used to close every Wednesday anyway.
gafynandrew
I don't really see how it can be likened to Christmas or New year in any way, both of those are on a diffrent scale of things entirely. I'm sure Santa would have something to say about that!
gafynandrew
Most of the shops used to close every Wednesday anyway. Yep....Dead right mate. They USED to close on a Wednesday, not any more .
