owdwife
My granddaughter is at a small primary school where dialect is actively encouraged and regularly used. The school also invites traditional crafts people to come and work with the children and in the past year they have learned how to make kishies and skekler hats to nane only two of the crafts. There are schools where pride in our Shetland heritage is encouraged without detriment to the 'English' language but unfortunately I think most of them are on the proposed closure list.
