MJ
After it's journeys with Streamline my daughter's laptop's keyboard has now died. it's a long story but a faulty charger led to having to ship the charger and laptop through streamline south. on it's way the hard drive was smashed as well as it's casing. within days of receiving the laptop back the mic died, then the camera died after a couple of months now the keyboard. The USB ports also have not been reliable since their little journey, nor the bluetooth. So we have decided that we have no option but to return the laptop to be fixed/replaced. the wifi works fine, and having an external keyboard plugged into the only fully working USB port. I realise that it will take a couple of weeks to a month before streamline will admit that they have to pick the machine up so can anyone recommend an online storage facility? She's only used 30Gb so not looking for anything massive, most of that is probably programmes as opposed to the data that needs to backed up. Looking for something idiot proof, ie really simple that'll upload/download easily. Preferably one that is less likely to closed down by any anti piracy action too. On the plus side we have a wonderfully fully functional charger, that charges the machine well enough that 6months down the line she still gets 8hrs video streaming from her battery... Spinner72
If you have a hotmail account (or any windows Live login, like messenger) you will have access to Microsofts Skydrive : http://skydrive.live.com/ Its free, 25Gb storage as standard and being Microsoft, very unlikely to dissappear anytime soon. If it's only 30Gb then one of these might be the cheapest and easiest forms of backup media: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Integral-Courier-Speed-Flash-Drive/dp/B003JRVXHA/ref=sr_1_6?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1338748768&sr=1-6 I've used this brand for a couple of years now and never had a problem. naitau
http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/best-free-online-backup-sites.htm This site has quite a few recommendations, I saw at least one which offers 50GB free storage! http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/displayTopic.do?topicId=27272 If you are with BT you have a service for this which I believe is 5GB, and you can pay for extra! http://www.thetop10bestonlinebackup.com/cloud-storage This site shows a selection of cloud services, which cost money but may be worth the investment! JordanKZ
Your best bets are Skydrive, Sugarsync, Dropbox and Google Drive to be honest. That or get yourself a NAS or a dedicated file server.
George.
AVG offer 5GB back-up free. Must admit that I like AVG because they always offer what I want as a freebee.
