JohanofNess
And you wonder why folk give up contributing to some threads! Reckon its not so much give up but more get bored of repeating or answering the same things all the time. Like mother used to say it's the one who talks last thinks they're right. JohanofNess
I would seriously doubt either of us will be the last poster on a thread where someone is talking about discrimination..............unless trout doesn't say he is locking it and just locks it

Not long I would think, because there will always be some people who think that the colour of something can cause offence. Clooty Cap
Ghostrider
So, a Gollywog doll is, we are supposed to believe, on sight, "racist" and/or "offensive" regardless that there is no evidence of a racist component to its existence in the case in hand, or that many had no knowledge of its alleged "racist" connotations. Yet, apparently the use of the moniker "KKK" isn't allegedly "racist", and is totally acceptable. Hmmm.... (Hint: See page 5 of today's paper if you ain't with me). Either "KKK" aren't bothered by the association with the Ku Klux Klan, or they're too dim to have made the connection. Neither option reflects terribly well on them. Ghostrider
^ I'd tend to see it as having broader implications than that. It would appear neither the backers nor publicisers of the award scheme in question have any issues with it, nor for that matter apparently does the local paper. Which given their coverage quite recently of Mr. Sissay's rhetoric on a very closely related subject, comes over as at best surprising and inconsistent, some might even say hypocritical.
