Like I said, I wasnt trying to be mean or nasty or to offend you, sorry (I'm actually quite a friendly guy) It was more a bit of a rant on Shetlander's taste in music in general. ACDC, Motorhead, The Levellers and all the old gumby bands. Its never changed in years and shows no signs of changing.

@Ghostrider

Thanks for the heads up!

It would be appreciated by the association of Shetlinkers with limited attention spans. If posters are posting criticisms in relation to taste in music, towards someone who has just uploaded a Twisted Sister video; could they please limit their posts to not more than zero words. Not only does one have to stop vital headbanging to read the posts but there is the very real risk that some of my Red tin will get spilt, during the ensuing fit of outrage. thank you.

@shetlandpeat

I'm a big fan of Gil Scott Heron, Bhangra music on the other hand is a bit like Bollywood movies, total Plagiarism, stealing from all sorts of modern western culture and trying to make it asian - garbage.

Green onions, well what can I say, Booker T and the MG's should be the only way you listen to this song. Theres a stack of guitar players like this (Buddy Guy, BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughan) Technically perfect guitarists, but boring as hell!

The Who - need I say more - no thanks.

If you want to listen to world music then you should check out the Bhundu Boys (Africa) or the Balfa Brothers, Nathan Abshire (Cajun) they can use a fiddle and an accordian way better than any Shetland band can.

Maybe experience the music at a Sikh Wedding at Greenford High School.

A bit out of context here, but more fun the closer to Southall you get.

Scott Heron, his poems are better, or the same.

The Who, from a great film.

Donald "Duck" and Steve Cropper, great blues what ever.

Bucovina Club Nights, Carolina?

quite a mix.

Comments on what I was listening to, ignored from now.

Ahem. Colonel Steve and Duck are the MGs. Booker T is certainly a plus, but if I had to choose which of Booker, Duck and Steve to miss it would be him. I went to see them all a few years back and to my mind the Colonel is very, very far from boring, indeed he's as good as he's ever been. As for Duck? Simply phenomenal.

Concerning Helloween, I saw them once by accident. Probably the most mind numbingly crap gig I ever experienced. Couldn't leave either as they were back to being a support act and I obviously had to hang around for the main band. Dismal.

Has discovered MP3 with HUGE capacity, loaded not only with these goodies but also some 'gems' (Not) free with the Mail on Sunday (I didn't buy it but someone in the household did ...)
