^ In remorse of last post - yeah Katy Perry - no MTV. :P

Today I am mostly listening to a random playlist of Fila Brazilia related tracks, Jan Garbarek, Akufen and occasional remixed tracks from Gary Numan's Pure album. It's like eating decent pakora - tasty, stodgy and mouth watering, with little explosions of fiery burning spice every now and then.

Strange day for me. Drinking a toast to a friend's husband who is having their funeral today and I have been listening to some music that is special to me.

Mike and the Mechanics.....The Living Years.

Brian Eno....Another Green World (Theme from Arena)

Tom Robinson Band....I Shall be Released

Sanctus from the Misa Luba (From the film "If")

Jean Sibelius....Karelia Suite (in momory of another friend).

Red vans....Painted Blue (because I drink too much)

Clydesiders....Last Night I hit the bottle and today it hit me back (for tomorrow morning)

Undertones....Teenage Kicks

Fleetwood Mac....Albatross (can remember the first time I heard this)

Bert Jansh....Angie (memories from my youth)

The Kinks.....Waterloo Sunset (more memories)

John Fahey....Bicycle built for 2 (from the Transfiguration of Blind Joe Death)

Chris Rea....The Road to Hell Parts 1 & 2

The Judds....Grandpa---tell me 'bout the good ole days

Boy George....Karma Chameleon

Ben E King....Stand by Me

Boomtown Rats....I don't Like Mondays

Rockpile....I knew the bride when she used to rock and roll

Black Sabbath....Changes

Moody Blues....one special track if I can find it

War of the Worlds.......short version

And at the end of the list I will probably listen to the complete 2nd Piano Concerto by Brahms. May well hear the version with Artur Rubenstein

The cast recording of 'Love Never Dies' - yet to be convinced, either by the album or the necessity for a sequel at all. There're a few decent tracks but some clunky hellery as well. Sierra Bogess has a good voice but is far too young to be Christine, and while Ramin Karimloo has an impressive name and a decent voice, he comes across as a bit 'pleepsit' to be the Phantom.

It probably comes as no surprise to those that know me that the first single I ever bought was Steve Harley and Sarah Brightman's rendition of 'Phantom of the Opera', so my opinion has been a little biased for the last couple of decades.
