mitzy
Why has the boat sailed out the North Mooth tonight?
suuusssiiieee
I would guess it's probably most likely something to do with keeping that Captain's harbour ticket up to date but i could be wrong. Nice bonus for the passengers tho.
Heimdal
They did it regularly last summer too, good chance for visitors to see the cliffs and birds at Noss on a calm night.

piggywiggie
I'm pretty sure they have to do it do often so that they can do it when they cant get in normal way(for whatever reason)
mitzy
Thanks everyone for your replies. I will need to watch more often from the top of the hill to see her going out.
north
Maybe they were comandeered by former councillors and heading to Faroe?
shetlandpeat
P&O used to do it as well, they also made the odd trip to the Auld Man of Hoy when on the midday boat.
michael_balmain
Stunning views of Noss and the North Mouth on that sailing. Plenty of Gannets on Noss and lots of opportunities of flight shots as they flew over the boat.Stayed out on deck until past Sumburgh Head. I believe suuusssiiieee is right as there was mention of captain's ticket but couldn't hear the tannoy overly well.

This is the time of year that the Noss cliffs are at their best. Everyone (not just visitors) should make the effort to go and witness the abundant seabird colony on Noss. It is mama nature supreme.Even worth giving Johnny Wills a couple of quid (it is wir boat onywye) just to enjoy the experience. Highly recommended. Infiltrator
My post from last year - there's a photo where you can see just how close the ferry gets to the cliffs http://www.shetlink.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11939
