viblir
Any body got any details on the fast jet that gave lerwick a low pass this afternoon?
Fifi
No idea but presumably the same one I saw flying low over the voe between Voe and Brae. Quite spectacular, zooming along low with one wing pointing to the water and the other the sky, then straightening up towards Brae.

JustMe
Likely also the one that flew down Bluemull Sound rather quickly. I reckon it it the RAF practising for an invasion of an independent Scotland.

MuckleJoannie
I was sure I heard a sonic boom yesterday. Mind you living near the Scord quarry it could have been a particularly close blast! I did see a fighter flying low over Bressay Sound about an hour ago though.
Hector's House
Mostl likely a Tornado or Typhoon. Don't think the RAF have got their hands on an F-35 yet (which I see have just been allowed back in the air).
Hamiltonian
The flaming thing gave me a such a fright. It went clean over my car when I was coming home around Weisdale voe. Thought my poor little car had exploded!
sadie j 54
Just how do you get pictures of a plane that's doing 500 miles per hour? My son is mad about planes and I'd love to find out how to get a closer look for him. My dad says you can't track them with normal binoculars. Is that true? Hi if you go on to flightradar24.com you can track them and see them flying over shetand to look for them in the sky and there is an app if you get the pro version which is about £2 you can do it all on an ipad/ipod
