Sheltie7
Seeking advice on cleaning growth from tiled roof. I was planning on pressure washing the roof to remove all the growth and grime. Is it ok to do this? Any information would be greatly appreciated

Widworx
Thanks for that hobbinho. The only thing that concerned me, I heard someone saying you can destroy concrete tiles when you pressure wash them??? Your unlikely to destroy them but you can end up with a rougher surface, which makes it easier for the moss etc to grip. A coat of paint or clear sealer will reduce the re growth rate and re-seal the surface. Remember to disconnect your down pipes to stop the moss etc blocking the rubble drains/drains. Sheltie7
Has anyone heard of fitting a copper strip/wire along the ridge of the roof to prevent regrowth? If so, how effective is it?
aidank
did this on my cousins roof, took an AGE with a good pressure washer! as suggested it did work but left a rougher surface that would need sealed with something. i'd advise the bleach/Chlorous route personally then pressure wash off what's still there
