owre-weel
I'm looking to replace all the windows on da back of my house. Can anyone advise who would be best to make and install or should I just buy ready made from sooth and get a local builder to install. Any advise would be most welcome
MuckleJoannie
Conventional wisdom has been that windows made outside Shetland aren't suitable for the climate here.
engineer21
worth getting quotes from all of the local window makersgarriock bros, T+N, Butler+mulhern etc id get anything that was made local with and go see what they are making etc, the local guys all do the efficent windows as well as the glass units come from south, argon filled and what not. id avoid south windows, i have in the back of my house (previous owner) only a cpl of years old and already ive had to blank off original handles and fit ones from UPVC makers up here - orginals just rusted and stuck/broken! plus any problems with them and at least local youve someone to visit! owdwife
Bulter and Mulhern to make them, Gary Leask to install them. Fantastic job from both companies

owre-weel
Many thanks for all your input. It does look like buying local makes most sense for quality, but does anyone know who's best for price? I take it Nordan are from DITT? Thanks again

Hobbiniho
if its a relatively new house where all the windows are a standard size then nordan/uldal windows are probably your best bet, if its an old crofthouse etc where every window is a different size then you will have no option but to get locally made windows, i got my windows fae bulter and mulhern and they were faultless four windows that were about 1200mmx800mm cost me about £1100+fitting
Silvercloud
Nordan will do non standard sizes too but you pay a bit more .
