JAStewart
I haven't seen hedgehogs in years..but last night after me and my friends had a BBQ we went to the pubs and my brother got a photo of a hedgehog in our backgarden! (we live in middle lerwick, near isleburgh). I didn't think that a hedgehog would have come into Lerwick, or down from the clickimin hills. Oh well, have you see any? Pooks
There has been one living around my garden somewhere for the past month or two. Seems to be quite happy coming out in the daylight as well.

Bloke
Plenty around about Gulberwick although nowhere near as many as the bleeding rabbits!
Yowe
A few years back I was walking home at lunch time when I spotted one casually strolling down the middle of Gilberston road. There was a car coming so I ran out and stopped it and put the hedgehog in someones garden.
Frances144
There are alot of dead ones on the road at the moment - I find that rather sad. Also, the best animation film in the world (IMHO) is "Hedgehog in the Fog" (Russian: ???? ? ??????, Yozhik v tumane), a 1975 Soviet animated film directed by Yuriy Norshteyn, produced by the Soyuzmultfilm studio in Moscow. (Wikipedia). I thoroughly recommend it.
turrifield
I remmember seeing hedgehogs in da toon years ago. They do eat birds eggs and were evicted from Uist for doing just that. Not sure if they are native to Shetland but I know that rabbits are not.
Yowe
Rabbits and hedgehogs may not be native to Shetland but humans are and I'm pretty sure we do plenty more damage to our surroundings than they do. Lets evacuate the islands and leave them to the wildlife.
McFly
Rabbits and hedgehogs weren't native to Shetland, but they are now. Humans weren't native to Shetland at one point. Neither were puffins or any other sea bird. Ecological systems are not static and enclosed. They change and evolve constantly.
Willies_landy
Just like the hedgehogs and Rabbits I am about to release three hens into the Shetland Environment. I thought I would put one in the town, one up North and one down South. Wonder what the outcome will be?
