MuckleJoannie
Gardening is not my thing but I do know a couple of businesses that should be able to help. Rosa Steppanova has been working on her garden in shetland for about 40 years. http://www.leagardens.co.uk/ The Plantiecrub is a lot newer but they know the local scene verry well http://www.plantiecrub.co.uk/

RileyBKing
Imo its best if at all possible to use Shetland grown stock which will be hardened up to the local climate. I would think (depending where you are briniging them from) that mature fruit trees from say England would have a hard time adjusting unless your Unst location is very sheltered for here. MuckleJ gives good advice, Rosa especially will give good info. Best of luck with your move!
Guest Linda158
Thank you RileyBKing for your kind advice once moved I will be blogging and live streaming my wildlife from my garden from LINDA
paulb
most fruit is grown in poly tunnels. depending how sheltered your garden is you can grow most basic veg. however remember that the growing season is shorter.
RileyBKing
On a positive note there are a number of places you should see when you are here if you are in need of inspiration. It is quite amazing what can be achieved with knowledge, effort and patience: Rosa's gardens at TrestaThe gardins at SandMichaelswood at AithKergord And many private gardens round Shetland, apologies for those not mentioned! Frances144
I think you need to contact U.R.G.E. - Unst Regeneration Growers Enterprise. They have polytunnels, etc and are very informative. Try Sarah McBurnie. http://www.lovescottishislands.com/#/urge/4548829201
