Frances144
Be ashamed. Be very very ashamed. Found dumped in Stanevatsoe Loch, SE of Sandness - we dragged it out of the water. http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e302/Frances144/179760_403837029729367_1012311012_n_zps76d6fa2b.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e302/Frances144/1003643_403834729729597_891079091_n-1_zps45ea297c.jpg Perhaps you recognise the stickers... on three sides? http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e302/Frances144/1010174_403834009729669_547507794_n_zps45d14858.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e302/Frances144/999535_403833599729710_1720808850_n_zps0f538978.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e302/Frances144/998259_403836756396061_1881949782_n_zps964a7ec5.jpg If you went to all the effort of driving it out into the middle of nowhere to dump it, why couldn't you have gone to Lerwick to dump it? shetlandpeat
This needs to go straight to the Times, some one will recognise this. It will probably be the youngsters who will say something. I know certain councillors read these pages as well, it would be no trouble to contact you for further details. This has happened not because there are no skip, but because of folks selfishness and disregard for the environment.
Muppet
Well done Frances. I hope someone recognises it. It's shocking how someone can do this. Aaron Foord
paulb
thats just plain dumb and wrong. it would have taken more effort to dump it there than at the dump. stupid a damaging.
Shoogler
Plenty evidence on this for a prosecution. This is not a 'result' of not having a skip to dump in as it would've been incorrect to put a fridge in a skip anyway - just someone who couldn't give a scoot. Or perhaps it's some bairns making a 'boat' to play in the loch with or finding some innovative way to flit paets. We used to drag plenty of old crap to the loch when I was young for all sorts of reasons that make perfect sense to an 11 year old boy.
ascoyard
saw a single mattress dumped by the roadside in Mid Yell a few weeks ago.
jack reacher
Councillor Alan Wishart assured us that by removing the skips that fly dumping would not happen!May be if the crap was dumped on him he might think differently.
trowie246
^^^ Just about to post the same thing. Councillor Alan Wishart said on Radio Shetland that fly tipping would not happen in Shetland. There has been rubbish dumped near us where the skip used to be and I was going to take a photo and post it, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt as it is mostly bags of wood and it is near the bairns bonfire site. But there is also an old wheel and bit of carpet lying there.
Frances144
I have never seen "kids" playing boats in that loch. I drive past it most days. The occasional fisherman is there perhaps, but never kids. That was dumped deliberately. There were two skips about 1 mile either way (taken away now due to "CUTS"). One was the Sandness skip and the other, a little further away (1.5miles), the Dale of Walls skip.
stilldellin
Just look for an unlicensed wreck running on red diesel and " hey presto "...
Shoogler
The idiots that did this are the same type of idiots who would have abused the skip system by putting the wrong stuf in them - fridges should not have gone in skips anyway. The abuse of the skips by builders, etc and the overfilling by all and sundry was also part of the reason for their demise. unlinkedstudent
Frances144
Ok. But even if the fridge/freezer had ended in the skip at least it would've had a better chance of being picked out of said skip and put in its rightful place and disposed of properly.
