Now I have the problem of getting my daughter to school till we can move in!That said though, I am extremely grateful that we at last have a home and am looking forward to being part of the Mossbank community Minnie Me
Spartan
I am posting a reply here in hope that some people are still checking this post.We have been offered and have accepted a house at Maidenfield. Problem is the SIC Housing department say it is in a mess, we can't view it for weeks and they cannot or will not give us a list of works to be carried out or give us any idea of when we can move in. They are being their usual turdty selves. They have told us that number 7 Leaside at Firth is available and our Maidenfield offer can be withdrawn and that offered instead. What is the house and area like? Can anyone tell me?We are going to see it on Thursday but I am keen to know the opinion of those in the community. Thanks

Spartan
May I ask you why?
neepjelly
I would wait for the maidenfield one. Leaside is lovely, but I think maidenfield is nicer. It's closer to the school also.
jambo6
don't wait for the mossbank 1. I would disagree. I lived in Sandside and Mossbank many years ago and Mossbank is much nicer - it feels like a village, whereas Leaside and Sandside are 2 housing estates plonked on a hill. The houses at Maidenfield were originally built for BP staff and in their heyday were very nice, best the OP can do is see for him/her self but Mossbank is bonnier than Firth if you're thinking long-term. Lower Maidenfield is also only 100m from the school.
paulb
miss typed there should have been a full stop after dont. why well its different for everyone mossbank is just nicer the houses are better built still remember the walls moving in the gales. there are really nice people in both leaside and sandside. however they also dump folks with issues there as well. this may have changed. your choice really either wait or go for the leaside one. but personally if you can wait then wait. do a google maps and take a tour of the 2 areas. Spartan
Thanks very much everyone. We have pretty much made our minds up to wait for Maidenfield and will just keep pressuring the SIC to get a move on.We will still take a look at house at Leaside as it pays to keep an open mind. Minnie Me
Hi, yes the shop closed a week ago. I have lived in Firth for 23 years, I have always been happy here, both Leaside and Maidenfield are nice. Maidenfield houses are detached bungalows with a garage but the downside is that when you are sitting in your sofa you can only see sky as the windows are small. Leaside no7 is a 1 1/2 storey house it's an end of 3 can't remember how good the view is but its a nice enough bit. You are best coming and looking around. I agree your own transport is helpful as the post office is a bit of a walk further from Leaside, if the shop reopens Leaside has less of a distance to walk than Maidenfield. Hope your move goes well.

Spartan
Hello all and sorry for going off the radar! I have not been receiving email notifications of replies to this post! We are now living in Mossbank at Maidenfield and love it. The house is looking better everyday and is a great family home. The community is wonderful and I only wish we had moved here years ago!
