Vik
Am I the only one getting fed up with all the thousands of Sullom workers loggin in to our already pedestrian broadband & grinding it to halt? Bloody Total & Petrosmack should install their own satalite service for their guys & gals & not rob our link to a standstill.

But it is much better than satellite, huge capacity fibre optics - goes to London. Absolutely no affect on the Shetland ADSL network. Vik
Fibre optic cable from each of the barges to the Scottish Mainland? What white powder are you on?
sheltie53
The two barges in Lerwick, the one in Scalloway, the Sella Ness work camp and the new Brae hotel all have their own fast fibre connections to London and from there onto the internet. Absolutely no load on ADSL at all. If people are connecting out on the street where you say they may using SIC guest, just as you can, and that does not touch ADSL either. Maybe the white powder could be shared, that way we can all be so aware of the world around us !
sheltie53
Ah, see how easy that was to explain your original post clearly to us poor local people who cannot have your worldly understanding. Glad to hear that the cable is being used as intended and working well, no doubt more will be using it soon.
