This  is what I was thinking, Germany lets them all in to Germany and points the way to an open boarder to the UK. So we will end up dealing with far greater numbers than ever 20,000 crippling our economy,  brilliant plan.

Perhaps this is time for a World Peace keeping army to annexe a large area of the countries formerly known as Iraq and Syria and create a safe zone to keep them all in.

Depending on what happens in Germany should we close the borders to prevent south England being swamped.

 

If 800,000 go on the move towards France and then reach Calais drastic action is going to be needed and fast.

Help some, but do not sink the UK.

Well which ever way this Syrian crisis goes the one thing,and probably the most important thing we have to do, is keep strict surveillance on all entering the UK and also on many already here.

 

Their could be easily be many who have been radicalised any ready to commit terrible acts of violence anywhere,anytime.

 

Also many could have commited horrendous crimes,rape,murder ect,ect. 

 

Will the police and security services be able to cope.

 

I do think it is time for a voluntary unit to be established throughout the whole country,to assist the existing services.

 

It is unlikly that the Police and other services will recruit more staff at this time of "austerity" but everyones safety is paramount.

Not all immigrants are scroungers as the Daily Mail etc would have you believe, there will be some that start businesses and create jobs, a number of them will have skills we are short of, others will work hard doing menial jobs, some will be intellectuals teaching our youngsters. etc etc

A modern example is the good old US of A who have grown to be the worlds largest economic powerhouse with the help of immigrants.

The UK is heavily reliant on immigrants also, is it not true the NHS would collapse overnight if not for immigrants?

The UK has terrible demographics as well, we as a country have an ageing population, ie we won't have enough people of working age paying taxes to keep people who are too old to work.

Why do we blame immigrants instead of government for the truly abysmal management of housing, health, education etc?

All this is beside the point though, we're not talking about immigrants, these are refugees fleeing a war torn country, we have a moral duty to help our fellow human beings.

Not only that, it's in our interests to help, what do you think will happen to the few ill equipped countries who are housing millions of refugees, some are worried about radicalism, would these squalid camps not be a breeding ground for it?

I heard on the radio that the SIC are offering Shetland to take in migrants. Which may make a few councillors feel warm and fuzzy inside, but what about the huge waiting list for housing we already have, same for dentists and difficulty seeing a doctor. Seems unfair that people here already waiting on these things would then be shunted farther down the list just so the Council can spend more of our money on other things than the Shetland people so they can be PC. I don't mind individuals doing this out of their own pocket but not the Council.

the idea that you need more and more young people to look after more and more old people is just a ponzi scheme! what do you do when the once young people are old themselves?? Get even more young people? It is just a pyramid scheme. Think about it. You can not have infinite growth on a finite planet! Face up to it! We are in massive overshot as it is. The last thing we need is even more people.

Do we have to extend the New Anderson to cope with possible influx Refugee children or is SIC making other arrangements that they are telling us about or have they overlooked the fact children will need educating.

I would argue that, in many cases, this is wrong..

 

Example;

A family leaves Syria and is given safe refuge in Turkey.  That makes them a refugee.  The moment they decide to leave Turkey for somewhere else with fewer flies and more opportunities, they become an immigrant and, we no longer have any 'moral'(?) duty to help (if we ever did in the 1st place).

So, you want an "ill equipped" country (UK) to take the load off other "ill equipped" countries thereby transferring the radicalism to us ?

 

We already have a couple of well publicised examples of some of "our own"(?) being radicalised and going over there (Syria) to "shoot the place up", create a caliphate and, displace the native population..

 

Never ending circle isn't it..?

 

I'm not unsympathetic to their plight but, short of closing the channel tunnel, is there any way that we can control the numbers once they get into Europe?

Typical SIC rubbish..  Crap all over the locals whilst falling over backwards to accommodate incomers..

 

Have they never thought that with no pensioner lunch clubs for the older incomers, very few public toilets for all of them, no new housing anythime soon and, totally inadequete bus waiting facilites(?) for those that can be persuaded to live outside Lerwick.......    Oh, never mind, I give up....
