Scorrie
Adnams 'Ghost Ship' is available in Ulsta shop, very nice. And I love 'Broadside', too. BTW Ulsta do a fair range of beers, better than anywhere else I've seen, really.
JustMe
Last time I was there Mary's at Aywick also had a good range as did Mainland's in the Ness.
Scorrie
Aye, Marys' got a fair range, unfortunately a lot of them are beers I'm not too fond of: Cairngorm, Valhalla etc. But...if you feel like splashing out and like dark, malty beers - ask her if she still has any bottles of Orkney Breweries 'Dark Island Special' left. It's £14 for a wine sized bottle and is absolutely the best beer I have ever tasted - even better than McEwans 'Champion No1' (7.5% ABV, treat with respect) ...and that's saying summat, that is. And the Dark Island is 10% ABV
khitajrah
I'm not really a keen drinker of beer (I prefer white wine), but I tried a bottle of 60 degree North not so long ago and really enjoyed it. Very drinkable. Love the Valhalla brews as well.
unlinkedstudent
I now have a yearning for a bottle of Stingo dark barley wine.
tooney1
I liked both beers also and will definately buy again. They're a commercially aimed, tripple-filtered beer, so may not suit the connoisseur.
Scorrie
I liked both beers also and will definately buy again. They're a commercially aimed, tripple-filtered beer, so may not suit the connoisseur. Just about all bottled commercial beers are filtered these days as they are easier to sell, can't really think of many bottle conditioned beers on the market at all.
