Patricia Bridgman-Elliot
Anyone know what breed of goats are most suitable for the Shetland Islands, taking into consideration the cold, damp and windy climate.I have had goats before, but lived in a mild climate. Any information would be much appreciated.
MuckleJoannie
These people advertise that they keep goats. http://visit.shetland.org/spiggie-house
Frances144
I had goats here. They definitely need a good shed, extra feed in winter and can be prone to laminitis. I had two anglo-nubians and a Toggenburg. The Toggenburg lived to a very old age, while the Anglo Nubians did less well.
Guest Mr.Brown
Hi Patricia, I'm wondering if you acquired goats, I am new to this discussion forum. My grandparents kept & bred several British Saarnens in the 70's & 80's very successfully. They were shut in over night in a byre with plenty of feed & bedding all year round.
