CrunchieSquirrel
There seems to be a few cars off the main road right now (as in on the verge), I'm not saying I'm really concerned or anything but it is a bit bizarre that they are just parked there. Malcolm
There is a lot of car share going on in Shetland. Cars not abandoned, just parked
Ghostrider
You just can't get the quality of cars these days, can you. Just breaking down wherever they please without any consideration for the occupant(s), and the folk having to leave them on the verge and thumb a lift. humptygrumpty
Colin
Sure they are abandoned? Maybe just parked 'Shetland Style' BigMouth
MuckleJoannie
If I am thinking of the same cars as crunchy squirrel they both were sitting at the side of the road in the middle of nowhere.
JustMe
If this is on the Kames a bit north of the Halfway House I think there is some sort of council facility there and it is possible they work there.
CrunchieSquirrel
I think "abandoned" might have been a little bit of a misjudgement...the title of the topic was rushed. Sorry!
shetlandpeat
It depends on the type of road. Some roads you are not to stop on or park.

The only time people normally park there is to use the track to walk over the hill. If someone parked there to walk the hills at the weekend then I think it's time to send out a search party. humptygrumpty

Any road that has either http://www.justdriving.net/media/images/theory-images/AB2315.gif Or http://www.outlandsales.co.uk/shopimages/products/normal/7548.jpgmeans you either cannot stop or wait on. You will find these on roads that are not motorways and have such regulations in force. CrunchieSquirrel
Popular Post Winston Smith
You don't find many of those signs outwith built up areas and airports in Shetland though, do you? I humbly await your pedantic retort. TheEagles, humptygrumpty and Aaron Foord
Rasmie
There are about twenty of those signs on the main Forvik interstate, just before the customs post, Only visible during exceptionally high tides and full moons. Longdog
Yeh there's a 4x4 been on the verge on the Brig o Fitch/Black Gaet stretch since the weekend. I assume it must have broken down and be waiting to be recovered. If I'm parked up to go off camping or going to be back after dark I put a note in the window to alleviate any worrie, especially as my car could be mistaken for a dumped one LOL!
