Yup, you can't fault the Booth, veggie or not, it's a good feed. Lerwick restaurants? No idea really, the Gurkha's Kitchen does have veggie options (very good grub also) as i would imagine the Raba would, not sure about vegan though.

Da Fort Chip Shop do possibly the best chips in town

Ah, but they might be fried in dripping, making them suitable only for carnivors

LOL .. true - I did ponder on putting that potential quip in the post - fairly sure it's vegetable oil they use ? .. Anyone care to enquire next time you're in!!

Ever had a macaroni supper from there? Do! MMmmMm

Are they these veggies that some how can eat fish? Never could get my head around that logic!

There are "pescatarians".....veggies who eat fish. I was one for about a week after stopping meat eating........it was the thought of rotten fish that made me stop. Odd as I certainly had not eaten or even smelt rotten fish.

Sadly the Booth is out due to public transport issues and the cost of a taxi back to town.

Anyone tried Monty's........and what is Oslas pizza place like aside from the issues about the owner on another thread.

I can confirm the Fort Chippy uses vegetable oil - there's a sign on the door saying so!

Yeah the Fort Chippy got voted best vegetarian chippy or something!

I miss the Fort Chippy

I wish the ginger guy from the Fort would come down here and teach the Italians how to run a good chippy!!

I have never understood why most chippys in Edinburgh (well scotland really) are run by Italians? :?

:D

Baroc had an amazing mexican veggie dish the only time I ate there - it was FAB!

Either of the chineses are fine, as is the Raba - never been to Gurkhas Kitchen. The Lerwick Hotel usually has a good range of veggie food too.

I wouldn't recommend Monty's for a veggie - they only have one option and one time I was there the option was a huge mound of goats cheese wrapped in aubergines. It was almost inedible IMO.

Personally I would either go to Baroc (relatively expensive though, especially for meat eaters) or the Lerwick Hotel.

For lunches - Karibuni's felafel wraps are fab, especially with chilli sauce. The Tattie shop has fairly basic offerings (cheese, macaroni cheese, beans). The Skipidock has some reasonable things like baked tatties, salads, macaroni, toasted baguettes.

Though there are "real" Italian establishments in Edinburgh - strangely enough you'll find the majority are actually owned and run by Iranians! 8O What a wonderful multi-cultural environment Scotland is today!

Unfortuneatly Barok doesnt serve food anymore.. I severly hope this is jsut while the place is beign sold.. as it really was one fo the best places to go for food that was not your usual mundane chinese or indain or chips routine...
