4533 Posted April 29, 2014 Report Share Posted April 29, 2014 Shetfest is a one day, not-for-profit all-ages music festival held in Lerwick, Shetland.Shetfest aims to bring the best up and coming, unsigned, and alternative music talent to the Shetland Islands. We aim to do this whilst keeping ticket prices in line with or cheaper than similar events on the mainland.Shetfest 2014 will be the second edition of the festival, following the success of Shetfest 2013, which saw prominent bands on the Scottish alternative scene such as PAWS, The Murderburgers, Halfrican and The Fire & I.This years lineup includes visiting acts Pinact, Chris Devotion & The Expectations, Deathcats, Billy Liar, Algernon Doll, Poor Things, Black International, Kill Surrrf, The Walking Targets, Maxwells Dead and Black Cop, aswell as local favourites Frankeneinstein and Brundlehorse. Shetfest 2014 will also play host to the debut live set of local hip-hop artist Audiopium.This year Shetfest will be held on Saturday the 5th of July, at the The Lerwick Legion. shetlandpeat Posted April 29, 2014 Report Share Posted April 29, 2014 We run similar events down here, it is about community cohesion and increasing footfall into local shops and businesses. This year, our first event had over 3,000 attend. We use multiple venues, 21 this time, with four sets per night over two nights. A couple more to do in other towns, so far it has increased the profiles of bands, got them on local TeeVee and various radio stations and has provided a welcome boost to the high street. The venues were accessed via wearing wrist bands at £5 each. Money going to bands and venues and costs. We did not have any complaints....
