Suffererof1crankymofo
I can't find anything regarding passports in the blurb. Mine is up for renewal and I sure as hell ain't paying for a 10 year one that might end up being invalid for less than that period.
shetlandpeat
How is Scotland going to remain in NATO when it has an Anti-Nuclear Weapons Policy? NATO is part of the nuclear weapons club.

ng7627
I was wondering about passports and driving licences too. Will we have to renew both with the issuing authority being Scotland? Will we have to pay for that? It costs £70 to renew a passport x 2 or 3 members of a family - adds up to a fair bit and driving licences as well!! ng7627
Wonder what would happen if you go abroad and try to use a UK issued passport when you come from an independent Scotland?

Who Knows
Passports is covered in the independent Scotland blog yesterday. Chapter 4 of the UK Governments paper covers passport. Irrespective of the vote next Thursday if you are a UK citizen you will still be a UK citizen and can choose to elect for dual nationality and become a Scottish if there is a yes vote in 2016. https://www.shetlink.com/index.php?/topic/7109-independent-scotland/page-6&do=findComment&comment=201515 Of course with everything a future Westminister can change the rules but that applies to everything at present anyway. Who Knows
It may surprise you to know that officially at least NATO is committed to Nuclear Disarmament and that is on their website. http://www.nato.int/cps/en/natolive/topics_50068.htm Only 3 members of NATO actually have nuclear arms. 20 NATO members do not host Nuclear weapons and a few do not allow nuclear weapons on their soil ever. http://nwp.ilpi.org/?p=2296 Edited September 10, 2014 by Who Knows

Suffererof1crankymofo
All it says is:- "The Scottish Government plans to recognise valid UK passports until they expire. As set out above, the Scottish Government intends to allow dual nationality and would not place any obstacles in the way of individuals holding a Scottish passport alongside a UK passport. Entitlement to UK passports will be a matter for the rest of the UK." So that's the Scottish version. What does Westminster say about them? Will other countries recognise a Scottish passport? Will they recognise a UK passport held by a Scottish National/someone with a Scottish address?
Ghostrider
It may surprise you to know that officially at least NATO is committed to Nuclear Disarmament and that is on their website. http://www.nato.int/cps/en/natolive/topics_50068.htm Only 3 members of NATO actually have nuclear arms. 20 NATO members do not host Nuclear weapons and a few do not allow nuclear weapons on their soil ever. http://nwp.ilpi.org/?p=2296 That's a laugh. An organisation with the Yanks as a member committing to go nuclear arms free, the nearest they can hope to that is for everyone except the Yanks being nuclear arms free, which would not be a good thing in any size, shape or form. They invented the mushroom cloud, they used it first, its their baby, and they'll die holding it close. It kinda shows that NATO is the elitest, hypocritical club we've always believed they were, if they think anyone is swallowing such tosh though. I dunno what all the fuss over nuclear weapons is anyway, you can't un-invent what has been invented, and regardless if all the known ones were destroyed, some despot somewhere will have a few hidden, or be working feverishly to make ones. Better we all go quickly should some nutter decide to press the button, than yet another protracted turdstorm like past war efforts have been. Wheelsup
Nuclear weapons have kept us out of major wars since 1945. Note the lessons from history.Small neutral countries get stomped on. If there is another major war in Europe small countries will get occupied again. We are really not many steps from a conflagration, now, unless Russia decides to ease back.Makes this Nationalism nonsense pale into insignificance.
