Random Flash and Java update spam

Recommended Posts

I've been getting random redirects to Flash or Java updates on Shetlink. It's happened at odd times on other forums as well. I see in another thread that I'm not the only one. Any ideas why?

Thanks for your indepth and amazing understanding of computers, the internet, everything really - and for spreading a shocking rumour that Shetlink is spreading malware that is trying to lock peoples computers and demand money from them  :roll:

Didn't a wise man once say;

"a wise mans speaks when he has something to say, a fool speaks when he thinks that he has to say something" or, something along those lines anyway..

This is what I read...

Though, I would not click on any link that just appears, similar to the one on here earlier. Still, folk are falling for it on Twitter, clicking links that is, Look What They Are Saying About You! however, this one is not going to hack your account. ;-)

This is what I read...

"Users are typically infected by clicking on attachments or links in emails which may look like they have been sent by genuine contacts and may purport to carry invoices, voicemail messages, or any file made to look innocuous. These emails are generated by other victims’ computers, who do not realise they are infected, and are used to send mass emails creating more victims."

Nothing to do with random flash updates then.

It seems not, however, would you click on them, again, after reading that a week ago, to a site having random links appear from no where, you are naturally on guard. Regardles of the right and wrongs of the statement I made, it was in the best interest. But it is good to have a go as well. So, thanks for pointigh that out.

Any how, there is this I read also....
