brecken
It does make you wonder what additional external funding might be available for Projects worthwhile and necessary!I think the biggest current problem the council has is it lacks clear leadership and this should come from the Chief Executive which doesn’t appear to be happening with our current Chief Executive Mark Boden. Having now been in the post over 4 years he should have been able to write a book on his achievements, but given his inactive approach to the job these would probably fit on the back of a fag packet, I think someone needs to let him know that the honeymoons over and he has a job to do and to start getting proactive and on with it.What’s he been doing for his 6 figure salary? Apart from topping up his retirement pot, can't think of anywhere else in the country someone would get away with hiding in such a position this length of time within a local authority, the fact that the majority of folk here don’t have a clue who he is speaks for itself.I think we need stronger leadership before it’s too late, so time for Mr B to step up to the plate or step down and let somebody capable of leading the council takeover.Wiltshire Council don’t appear to have any regrets about getting rid of him, perhaps he was also laid-back and inactive in his position there. MrBump
Good God, man. You can't come up here and bandy about facts like that. We need outrage and exaggeration to bolster up our witless parochialism! Don't you know that Lerwick is a hell-hole like no other place on Earth for drivers and pedestrians alike? I must apologise for the error in my ways and should we move I will try to leave such thoughts at the ferry doors

Urabug
How did we manage to get so many gormless so and so's on the council. Better luck next time round We(?) voted for them. Better luck next time round... Well the one I voted for seemed sensible enough at the time but after 5 years of radicalization his ability to make rational decisions seems to have completely altered. Guess it something "gaein aboot" in da council. and it's be there for a while.
Scorrie
Point of interest... Did you actually manage to reach the "magical" 30mph along the Esplanade? Now, now, Colin. 30mph is the maximum speed - not a target
brecken
Not much action today on Church Road would have thought given the fine forecast they’d have let the guys have a bit of O.T and get cracking with the job given that it’s such a H&S concern, looks likely this project will drag on at the usual SIC pace, they have however managed to get the traffic below 20 just by digging a couple of holes and putting up a set of traffic lights that actually work! suuusssiiieee

MuckleJoannie
I think it's time they put some traffic calming measures on the Black Gaet. This is the third accident I've been aware of this year. http://www.shetnews.co.uk/newsbites/14154-single-vehicle-accident

menkeeeaneahi
It looks like the esplanade job is getting rushed through in the next few weeks so that the new council in May can't reverse the idiotic decision. it is being rushed through as you put it because it is being funded by Sustrans not the council sustrans need to try and keep up http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/04/09/speed-bumps-could-disappear-uk-roads-part-new-plan-cut-pollution/?WT.mc_id=tmg_share_fb mogling
