Fibre in Scalloway?

All looks ok on that page.  I've emailed PlusNet to see about the 2 different packages but on their website it only offers the slower one that I have.

strange,  I found both packages on their website and chose the one I wanted...

Is that for home use rather than business?  I spoke to them and they confirmed only the one speed available.

its for home use    broadband only (I pay rental to BT as my phone/line supplier)   I ordered through the website   "unlimited fibre extra".     I paid a one-off £5 extra once connected to get my fixed IP address so I can run a VPN into my home network.

 

The link is still there on plusnets website  Home Broadband page ; below  the "unlimited fibre" link  which gives up to 40 down  2 up. 

 

I pay £29.99/month; you get what you pay for...   down is consistently over 72 download   up is always more than 15 but it is a bit less consistant in speed ie varies between 15 and 19.

 

If you take the line rental package you pay less/month  for the broadband service; and you don't pay the £50 setup fee.

 

Unless you need the faster upload speed  you won't gain much from the faster download speed unless you are doing a LOT of streaming video.  Youtube HD works fine at under 20 download.  YMMV
