peeriebryan
There's tons of Thomas Lang videos on YouTube Click here to see the list. He's a bit like a cross between Mr Tickle and an octopus
Fanman
He's taking it tooooo far. I cant help thinking about how many hours and hours he's practiced to be so good.
Marjolein
Tony Royston Jnr needs to get out more. He should take up another pursuit, kale kasting maybe.
sags
Kale casting is probably something Tony could benefit from. Light hearted banter with your best pals, uprooting "magnie o da dykes" prize kale, to then throw them through somebodies front door and onto their prize persian rug, "whars da herm in dat" Come to mention it, toonies could learn a thing ot two from our yockle past times................my thoughts return to drumming. sags
I know that we are going slightly off the track again, but the drummer that is playing in the Omar Sosa trio at the town hall on the 19th is incredible. He is dubbed the Godfather of drum n bass, and well worth a look. The tour is really impressive, good to see Shetland Arts still promoting world/ethnic music. Marque Gilmore is his name, surely no relation to the fantasatic Grant Gilmore, now there was a man that could beat the tubs!!
sags
I got the new Thomas Lang DVD for Chrimbo, unbelievable. It's 7 hours long and feels like he's struggling to fit in all his new ideas. It's a lot heavier than his last DVD, and he plays along to his new compositions. If your into independence exercises, have a double pedal or even four legs, this'll be for you! Ichorus
Mike Portnoy would be a good one to get...but whilst your at that you might aswell get John Petrucci to come for a guitar work shop.Infact you might aswell just get Dream Theater to play Clickimin
sags
Mike Portnoy would be amazing, and I know a lot of Shetlanders from different generations that are into Dream Theatre music. I got the modern drummer festival 2003 DVD when he plays a tribute to Ringo and the Beatles, playing the exact setup that Ringo had, it was incredible. His Liquid Dream Theatre DVD is well worth a look. On another topic, who's the drummer for Shoot the messenger, and whatever happened to SLOW
Fifi
who's the drummer for Shoot the messengerThey've only got.... Michael Jackson!! 8O
sags
Michael Jackson, I suppose he's looking for a change of direction. Does this mean slow is now singing Billy Jean and Thriller? Is Michael the 1/5th non shetland member of the band?
Guest Pronto
How about Bruford?? Or perhaps the re-animated zombie corpse of Buddy Rich - from what russel has achieved in the past im sure he would manage some necromancy for the sake of Shetland drumming. Guest Pronto
And the Zombified Rich could join slow in the new improved Thriller video...
Guest Pronto
But on a serious note, Bruford would be great to get up, especially if he takes his Yes and/or King Crimson chums with him
McFly
^ Bill Bruford's current band "Earthworks" are fantastic too.I saw them in Aberdeen a few years ago and was blown away by how good they were. Definitely not "Prog" though
