The Jarl squad is the squad that is dressed as vikings , who accompany the boat that gets burnt (boat=galley)

 

The other squads have different themed apparel. Often with a topical theme which forms the basis of the act they perform in the halls*. The vikings just sing the Jarl Squad songs.

 

* for instance there is bound to be a bridge related act or two. Possibly a free sakchai squad, anything that's been in the news or widely known during the year. Some of them just have song/dance acts with varied levels of complexity.
