Just out of interest our local bonfire at Skinningrove on the North Yorkshire Coast is always a sculptural one and this year the themes was vikings! Bit of a co-incedence with us moving up to Shetland soon.

Here's a picture. Hard to get the scale but it's about 30ft high and 60ft long. It was used as a base for a great fire work display before it goes alight with rockets etc firing out the mast and head and allsorts of other stuff, great night. Looking forward to Up Helly Aa

Will there be again a 'Fiery Sessions' 2010 in the Garrison Theatre ?

Peerie Bryan is the guy to ask about this because it is a fringe event organised by Shetland Arts rather than the committee. I certainly hope it is on again because it is an excellent event and well timed. What I can't understand is why a change was made from the two venue approach to just using the Garrison. When Islesburgh was also used in parallel with the Garrison, both concerts sold out early, so there is clearly no problem on that issue. I thought the idea of running the two concerts in parallel was a nice touch as it reflects the UHA hall procedure with the acts travelling between.

I'm gonna be away up helly aa week this year, very sad gonna miss it for the first time in 30 years! But we thought if we are not going out for it then we don't want to see or hear any of it hense booking a flight out if here which was incredibly cheap, £250 for 2 adults and 2 bairns. coming here up helly aa week is of course extremely expensive! Definately gonna miss it though.
