Popular Post wotsit
In reference to Vic Thomas' letter about Planning issues on Shetland, I believe there are a lot of people on Shetland unhappy with the way decisions are made, but maybe the reason people won't respond is that they are to scared to speak out as they may work for the Council or family members do. It's surprising where axes may fall if they have to. People also have business to run and a living to earn. They may also need planning themselves in the future. It's the fear of reprisals in the future that prevents the changes from happening and the Council know this. The only way a pressure group to reform planning on Shetland will work is if the people have nothing to lose. The planning system on Shetland does need sorting out. Some people on Shetland however need the planning system to stay the same as they have a vested interest in the outcomes. I very much doubt that it will be dying a death.
pernjim
Jeezo. What a bunch of (a) grumpy old buggers and ( conspiracy theorists. I assume none of you have actually thought about standing for the Council and talking to a bigger audience, i.e. one which extends beyond yourselves? jz
