John Allan
I sometimes swim in the sea, but just keep a mind on the temperature, it rarely goes above 12c or so, even in the Summer months. But speak to Shetland Recreation, they might have contacts for open water swim groups. https://www.srt.org.uk/swimming
MuckleJoannie
My wife tries to have a swim in the sea every summer. The only group I'm been aware of is the one this lady was a member of. Hopefully your swim will be a bit less eventful! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-scotland-36798940/a-wild-swimmer-has-a-close-encounter-with-a-killer-whale-off-the-coast-of-shetland
Lerwick antiques
Watch out for the conger eels, they can bite.
George.
Watch out for the killer whales, they have that name for a reason.
