JustMe
Agree that poison is a bad idea, unless you have a serious infestation. The other thing is, don't delay as they breed PDQ. Metal traps with chocolate work great but wir cats seem to be enough to keep them clear nowadays. Is there any research on this?........some reliable form of contraception for mice might be a longer term solution to a big problem. Even if the medicine was disguised as peanut butter. turrifield
On River Cottage one time Hugh had mice in his house. He got a hippy crystal type person to do a cermony thing and she put out some stones and lit some joss sticks and asked the mice to leave. Apparently it worked so you could try that! north
The worst thing about Moose, is that I don't believe any other food on earth makes you fart as badly! Sure is good eating though!
north
I'm sure that the same individual who used a shotgun to control the mice problem, also used a fork to remedy a problem with an errant ram? Unless my memory deceives me.
Pooks
Thought I would dig this thread up as it is coming oto that time of year again. Evil Inky
Anybody been aware of mooses loose aboot da hoose this year?My girlfriend just rang me today to let me know that a mouse has been sneaking into our kitchen and eating lentils and tea-towels. I'm investing in some traps this lunchtime. And the cats are going to have some serious questions to answer as well.
MuckleJoannie
I caught a couple recently. What was unusual about them was they they were brown on top with grey bellies. Does this mean that one parent was a house mouse and the other a field mouse?
mainlander
Think we have a family of mice in our house. They have got in near the central heating boiler and can travel around via the pipes to the radiators, so don't seem to come out where the cat or dog can catch them. Just in my kitchen cupboards - ugh! Have had the humane traps, but they either seem to die of shock in them or - eat their way out! Couldn't get metal traps locally so have just put down quite a few plastic traps, baited with bits of Mars bar. Anybody got any new/better tips for getting rid of the little blighters? Marooned in Maywick
Peanut butter. They can't get it off the holder (I suppose is a good enough way of describing it) and will spring the trap in the attempt.
