@ Davie P - Except Theresa May didn't have the legal right to change the date to that agreed with the EU.  As for links, this is reported little in the press but if you go back through the various posts a few pages on the English Democrats' website, it would appear that it's at the stage where the Defendant has replied.  There's this link, however, which indicates hearing is a few weeks away:-

Thanks Suffererof1crankymofo. I'd had a google but only found articles in the Express

This is a pretty good explanation of the legalities - https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/brexit/the-eu/eu-exit-day-is-changed-in-uk-law/

The questions asked in the referendum choices were entirely practical, either you're a full member of a club, or you're not a member at all. UNLESS you negotiate some sort of 'Special Relationship' status with that club, which requires both sides starting off with a blank slate and going from there, NOT both sides attempting to cherry pick from the corpse of full membership as the Westminster approach has been.

That's one way to look at it. But throwing everything into the bin only to have to rewrite something similar sounds a little 'symbolic' rather than practical.

What's the point of ditching all the bits that work? Baby and bathwater?

So that'll be the EU election results coming in....

As many predicted, the Brexit party has taken the lead across everywhere in England apart from London. A strong showing for Lib Dems too but not a good result for the Tories or Labour!

Yet another that is proud to put England forward as the whole of their United Kingdom?

Let's keep the tone civil and the discussion constructive folks.

A reminder that trolling, insults and repetitious / generalised moaning are all against the T&Cs / netiquette guidelines.

If anyone finds themselves blocked for a cooling off period, they'll know why.

Tactical voting, as promoted by the SNP, gives them an inflated view of their position in the northern isles. It follows that their constant calls for another referendum get louder. The northern isles don't want Scottish independence, that has been proven, and due to their unique history they dont want tartan, tam-o-shanters, clan chiefs, or bagpipes either.

If it's a choice between having Boris in charge or kilts, bagpipes, Irn Bru and shortbread, I'll take the kilts, bagpipes, Iru Bru and shortbread.

No been that tactical as SNP have scored quite a few points.

Tactical voting would have been Brexit

Well Evil Inky, Boris at least would be short lived and contribute to Tory demise.  SNP independence would be a step into deep waters with no way back to dry land. Shetland and Orkney have voted decisively against that step and so has Scotland as a whole. Irn Bru is just another sickly sugar loaded drink, and Orkney oatcakes are a far healthier option that shortbread. SNP option hard to swallow.

I don't think Iru Bru and shortcake would be compulsory in an independent Scotland. And if they were, at least it would be good news for denture manufacturers.

Urabug, We have a bagpipe band, and as this is Scotland perhaps if we went with Tam o shanters kilts etc. it would do the tourist trade the world of good, and if we all voted SNP. perhaps we would get a better deal on a lot of things.

Its bad enough trying to get away from the EU ,it will be a different task to split the UK  and I for one trust that never happens.

It will cause divisions among us like we have never seen before, who wants that.

Grass is always greener on the other side of the fence until we get there. :ponders:

Scotlands economy, like everywhere else  will probably take a big hit in years to come if we are to combat global warming by reducing fossil fuels.

Best the UK sticks together, one helping the other if that is possible.
