Well we all girn and greet about how much tax we pay but that is what funds all our services and freebies.

Should we pay more tax to get what might appear more "freebies" some of us would go along with that ,many would not.

It is a compromise on how much can be provided from the average tax payer to keep everyone in society happy.

If public money was better spent and more accountable I believe we could all be getting a better deal.

The way some of our public money has been squandered by "governments" is ridiculous, but thats something our elected MPs should be held to account for .

Yes investing in schools ,hospitals, transport ect is good if properly supevised to ensure everything is built to the required standard ,up to government to ensure that .

Blanket freebies run the risk of creating an entitlement culture and a population that have their heads turned by them that knows the price of everything but the value of nothing. They also risk creating governments who get to believe they can pretty much do what they like, if they can afford to buy off enough people with enough freebies.

While I'm in no position to comment on the former, the latter risk seems to be largely realised in Scottish Socialists, one glance at both SNP and Labour 'policies' in this by-election's promotions is all you need to prove it. Its all about 'freebies', and bog all about anything else.

Looks like it's a two horse race between the yellow tories(Lib Dems) and tartan tories(SNP).

Not being any variety of Tory I'm therefore indifferent with regard to the eventual outcome of this by-election.

Would love to know how you reach that conclusion based on the poll above?
That's not a scientific poll.

Anyhoo, vote Labour.

The question is, are the SNP pulling out all the stops in this by-election as they truly care, and believe we would be better served by an SNP MSP. Or, are we simply being viewed as a 'notch on the bedpost', so to speak, and they can see the PR and bragging rights mileage in being able to 'stake their claim' on us, a SNP MSP would bring. :ponders:

Yes the SNP might well win but with 10 candidates all getting some share of the votes it is unlikely that they will be able to claim a complete victory although we know they will . :ponders:
