No Government will be electable if they try to impose travel rationing. Especially as there are millions of new tourists coming out of China and India every year. It would take a world war to stop travel and tourism. As fur da elekshun, A'll aet my kep, if da Liberals dunna win agen. Hardly wirt vottin. Dey hae naebuddy kempin agen dem, heraboots.

So Evil Inky thinks we have a great chance of joining the EU as an independent country. What about the deficit? No chance unless you can magically bring that down. And the SNP are saying they are are

I would like a lot more clarity on how an independant Scotland would manage /fund the following :-   1---Currency will it be totally different to the rest of Britain, or the Euro  and will it be index

That's unfair. He regularly gets hauled over the coals precisely because of his convictions / principles.   Boris' repeated one liner during the entire debate clearly demonstrated their thinking that

Rationing with regard to global warming is something that has been discussed for years but would appear to be getting more attention now and who am I to say,but ma'be rightly so if things cannot continue the way they are, without destroying the world.

As regards the Lib/Dems well they will not get my vote.

The EU would bend over backwards to have the honour of having Scotand as its 27th member in the event of independence, we'd not only be invited, we'd be fast tracked back into the club.

Of course the people against Scottish independence have their own agenda and that's to try and convince the gullible how impossible everything will be, telling them how useless and pitiful they are and how nobody else would have them is the order of the day for most of the naysayers.

The reality of course is a million miles from this, the goodwill Scotland has from their friends in every European capital is phenomenal.

Scotland's been a member of the EU for 40+ years as part of the UK, they don't want us or anybody else to leave.

Thats not what they actually say, either side, as anyone can see if they look at the relevant documents. The SNP has always and still do define independance as independant from the UK *and* the EU.

The EU has repeatedly said it would be almost impossible for and independant Scotland to join the EU, citing how long it has taken for new countries to join, and that this would be a case of a member country leaving, then trying to rejoin.

But, of course, it's a shame to ruin a perfectly good fantasy with facts so carry you on ;)

Just because you think it and say it doesn’t make it true, perhaps you could back this statement up with some evidence

I wonder, given all the (well publicised) comments that have come out of the EU, just WHO is trying to convince the  "gullible" ones here ?

Climate change has now become a major issue, but no party will tell us the truth on how they will tackle it, as Wheelsup has already said it would be political suicide.

If our daily/weekly /annual  routine is going to change it will have to be mandatory measures that will affect us all with economic consequences .

Doubt if enough folk will change there habits voluntarily to have any effect on the world, it will have to be forced on us.

All this hype about planting thousands of trees and us all going to electric cars(which most of cannot afford) is a nonsense.that barely addresses the real issue , over consumption of world resources.

What our politicians are telling us about a growing economy and greater prosperity won't happen if we have to cut back to save the planet.

This will in the next few years become an even greater international battle trying to persuade countries to cut back when off course they want to expand their economy .

There could not be a worse time for Scotland to consider independent, this is a time to stick and work together for the greater good of us all.

Yes even the efforts of the SNP is probably not enough ,I fear the main culprits to global warming are those big flying machines and grounding them will have a big impact on the economy.

On one hand we want to see expansion to roads, rail and airports but I cannot see how that will reduce our "carbon footprint"

The SNP has always and still do define independance as independant from the UK *and* the EU.

No they don't, they've been promoting "Independence in Europe" since the mid 80's

Just because you think it and say it doesn’t make it true, perhaps you could back this statement up with some evidence

The European Parliament Committee on Constitutional Affairs did a report on it here's some quotes...

"There now seems to be a consensus that, were Scotland to become independent by legal means, it could join the Union."

"There seems no basis in EU law for the assertion that membership would be impossible, as Scotland meets the criteria and not since de Gaulle’s veto on UK membership in the 1960s has a democratic country respecting the rule of law been refused admission."

"No member state suggested that it would veto Scotland’s membership and none has done so since."

"Some opponents of independence have said that Scotland would have to join a ‘queue’ behind the Balkan countries. EU accession has never worked on the basis of a queue. Applicants are accepted when they are ready, not on the basis of when they applied."

'Independence in Europe' is NOT the same thing as being and independent nation, and also being a member of the EU.

The former is a default position of geographical 'accident' and having a defined boundary, the latter is a contradiction.
