  1. Hat's off to Trout for the number of hours he's spent up to his fishy oxters in code and databases of late. He's a real troo(t)per! The best advice we can offer to folk about the new functionality is to have a good (t)root around and get used to all the new bits n pieces while we get things in order. Thanks for your patience and we hope you enjoy the overhaul.

  3. This update is excellent - thanks! The classifieds with photo previews, public questions (so many folk must ask the same questions), improved search/sorting, formatting editor are good useful additions.

  4. ^^ No problem. There's lot's to get used to on this new setup! That is all to do with the "like" functionality. It's to essentially show how well rated by the Shetlink community - as a whole - you are in your forum posts. i.e. sit there behind your screen making sanctimonious near trolling posts in the forum and you're not going to get "like" hits upgrading your reputation nor are you going to escape people most likely ignoring you too arf! Hope this helps! troot

  5. Indeed. You'll find it in the drop-down when you click your name in the top-user-bar in "Manage ignore prefs". Hardly sporting - what what, ay? .. but, I guess could be quite amusing to see who ends up being the most ignored user(s)

  6. Another good thing with this software is if you really, really, really can't get along with someone you can set your profile to ignore all their posts. If the mods have it enabled that is.

  8. Events Calendar Now, after a bit of fiddling the "Events Calendar" is back online for users to add their community events too! You'll notice a "+ Post your event" button in the top right hand corner ideally. Just follow the instructions. The idea is that it's a community based calendar of events - not an advertising medium for local businesses. We'll see how well that's listened to 0_o

  10. Heya, As some of you might have noticed you can now login to Shetlink using either your Twitter or your Facebook login. Should you fancy you can connect these accounts to Shetlink; for instance to get your classifieds out to a wider audience.

  11. Moving On Employment Project are looking for donations of recipes which include produce which can be grown in Shetland: tatties, herbs, veg, fruit, etc etc. We are about to begin a 5 week project with a group of clients, learning how to grow your own fruit and veg; make simple recipes with them; and collating a book of recipes, hints and tips. If you have anything you would like to donate please email: movingon@shetland.org - all donations will be very greatly received! Many thanks for your time The Moving On team

  12. I like it. (Took me ages to find the "sign in" button though.) Edit: Found the edit button now, too. Edit 2: Oh, yeah. The reason I was looking for the edit button. I notice the sign-up date is gone from below the avatar pic. Any particular reason for that?

  13. Again thank you for your patience in the conversion of the original Shetlink software to the new setup. Unfortunately, the largest and most unforeseen issue arose around the PM system. Again there has been some teething problems and the system has been completely purged rather than allow it to go as it stood. What does this mean? Any new PM's sent today have also unfortunately been deleted. The bonus; rather a trite one, is the database isn't clogged to the hilt but, yes not ideal in circumstances where Shetlink users have been communicating on items in the classifieds section. Anyhow. Shetlink trusts this can be overseen for the new setup and interesting new features available. Hope you enjoy.
