If, as some people involved in the education of our children might suggest, the corridors of power in Hayfield house are milling with failed teachers, why cant there be some redundancies here? There is every probability that the effect of these major savings on the education of our children would be minimal.

Oh SP, for goodness sake get a life and stop bullying people(me). My post was perhaps a little short and blunt but to all you pc brigade I'm sorry(not) but the vast majority of ordinary people have no problem with Golliwogs. It has nothing to do with being "ignorant" it's about keeping things in perspective. Is it any wonder the world is in the state it is.......

Having taken te time to read the man's blog, I to am deeply saddened and shocked as well but only because so many people seem to think that a doll can be an indication of racism. For goodness sake, a doll is a doll, is a doll..... When I was a kid, I used to collect the paper golliwogs from Robertson's jam jars and, shock horror, exchange them for the enameled badges that were on offer. Nothing 'racist' about it, I just collected the badges. It never 'encouraged' me to think that black, yellow, green, blue or any other colour of skin was an indication that the persons within were, somehow, different or inferior to me and to this day, I do not care what colour, race or creed anyone is. It just isn't important so, why do so many people get upset over it. In my opinion, if you accuse someone of being a racist then, you to must be a racist. Think about it.. Maybe I'm just not 'PC' enough and need to be 'educated' into thinking like a lemming.

Hat's off to Trout for the number of hours he's spent up to his fishy oxters in code and databases of late. He's a real troo(t)per! The best advice we can offer to folk about the new functionality is to have a good (t)root around and get used to all the new bits n pieces while we get things in order. Thanks for your patience and we hope you enjoy the overhaul.

Again thank you for your patience in the conversion of the original Shetlink software to the new setup. Unfortunately, the largest and most unforeseen issue arose around the PM system. Again there has been some teething problems and the system has been completely purged rather than allow it to go as it stood. What does this mean? Any new PM's sent today have also unfortunately been deleted. The bonus; rather a trite one, is the database isn't clogged to the hilt but, yes not ideal in circumstances where Shetlink users have been communicating on items in the classifieds section. Anyhow. Shetlink trusts this can be overseen for the new setup and interesting new features available. Hope you enjoy.

The Council won't stop until there's one school for all of Shetland, they're doing it by stealth, and not because its necessarily what the majority of Shetlanders want, nor that it is necessarily the "best thing", but because they and/or the Government have a preconceived idea (for whatever reason) that one school is the "way it has to be", and they are bloody mindedly and blindly seeing it through at all costs.
