  1. Transit through Hong Kong from Malaysia. Home to Vancouver for Christmas... Merry Christmas
  2. The big island - Waikaloa, Hawaii. About to board the flight in Seattle right now!
  3. Quick business trip and night stop in Washington DC, on the way back from Thanksgiving in New Brunswick. Yet another Air Canada flight attendants strike averted today! More travel next week, but not sure where - either the UK or Florida then Texas. I'm tired....
  4. Air Canada threatening to go on strike on Wednesday. Could be bad as I will be on the other side of the country when this kicks off, trying to get home from Nova Scotia. Might just have to eat more Lobster!
  5. One of my very good friends has developed just the solution. http://www.amphib-alaska.com/specifications.htm
  6. I'm off to the beach here on Bowen Island to go swimming. Might take the boat out and go swimming way offshore, around the islands. It's the last long weekend of the summer here - Labour Day, and the kids go back to school on Tuesday. I'm off to Bangkok and Pattaya again on Tuesday, for 10 days. Then back for the weekend and off to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Home for a weekend in Vancouver then off to Cambridge for a week - and that was September (and summer) gone!
  7. Been to Taipei, Bangkok, Pattaya, Kuala Lumpur and just about to leave Hong Kong for Vancouver. Then the best part of this (overly long) trip, up into the BC interior for some fun! http://www.flyingu.com/
  8. Good choice there, Kaiser chef. Trip Advisor just posted their 25 top places to visit in Canada, and I think you came out at number one! I get up in that area every July, what a fabulous place and truly unbelievable scenery. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/blogs/dailybrew/banff-named-no-1-tripadvisor-com-lists-top-172826773.html
  9. Washington DC on Wednesday. DC is one of the most beautiful and interesting cities to visit. It is a great walking city with lots to see and do. It would take a week to see everything here, and even after multiple trips I still have so much still to see here. Going to get to the Smithsonian Air and Space museum at Dulles this time around, as I have meeting in the immediate area.
  10. Headed back to Bowen from Taiwan. Just a short 9 hour hop now from Tokyo. Already had 17 hours today, and will get in at 10:00 am the same day - only 7 hours before I left. There must be an easier way to get 40 hours out of the 30th of April!
  11. Bucerias, Mexico. Just north of Puerto Vallarta - great place right on the beachfornt. Warm sea, warm winds, whales, dolphins, cheap beer and tequila. And NO work...
  12. In Bangkok for a few days then home. Stopped in Athens for a couple of days on the way in here. In the last three weeks I've been to Philadelphia twice and Washington DC once. I'm tired and with this trip, done for the year. I don't intend to go very far over Christmas, that's for sure! Happy travels to everyone for 2011.
  13. I worked a couple of shifts on the Piper Alpha, based on the Tharos. We were either tied up along side with a bridge, or flew the crew changes with the 212 - our real reason for being there. Never met anyone else from Shetland there.
  14. Toronto on Monday, get back home to Vancouver on Wednesday night. Then off on Friday to Delhi and India for a week, and a fast week in Portsmouth on the way home. I'll be able to replenish my stock of fruit gums and Marmite.
  15. I know a few Shetlanders and descendants around the area, including quite a few people who used to live in Shetland at various times of their lives. Not sure if any of them are on Shetlink though. Amongst my neighbours, include a Henderson whose Grandfather was from Lerwick. A Munro, whose father's family was from Unst, he is still living in West Vancouver. Anyone here?
