  1. I am very sad about Malcolmsons closing. It has been going since 1850s and never had a problem until Tescos opened, but guess that's just the way things move on. I am a good friend to Hilda, probably the oldest member of staff who has worked in the bakery on the street for 40 + years. I am in their most days, not just to buy stuff but to pass the time of day with Hilda. What a shame.
  2. Hi, Thanks for the posts, they are very interesting. Do you know of anyone who has a fox fur from this farm? I was talking to a Tingwall man who says he has seen a fox fur with the Tingwall fox farm label in it.
  3. Hello Does anyone know anything about the Silver fox farm that was in Tingwall during the first half of the 20th century? The only info I have found out is a couple of photos on the museum website of a man with an alsation dog holding a fox cub. When did it open and close? who ran it? does anyone have a fox fur with the tingwall farm label in it? Look forward for any info you have.
  4. Do you know that there was a pair of jaw bones the same as was at the fort at a gate way in unst? I have an old postcard of it in my shetland card collection. I did hear from some where that the jaw bones at the fort rotted, then got dangerous and had to be taken away. It was probably in the 1960s era they went.
